EoA Restricted to Firefox 3
Posted by Eden on Tuesday, May 27th, 2008, 00:16:40 AM
Due to the nature of EoA's layout, it will only be compatible with Firefox 3 or greater. While it may operate in previous versions of Firefox, it will not look as it is intended. EoA makes use of CSS3-specific attributes which are not supported by Firefox 2. For best performance and visuals, I would advise you all to upgrade to Firefox 3, which can be found here at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-rc.html prior to playing EoA when it is released.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone, but it serves a dual purpose: A) In order for EoA to have a more functional design, and B) To show users that there is more to browsing the web than internet explorer. I refuse to support IE and none of my sites will ever support it.

All other browsers attempting to access EoA will be redirected to the Firefox 3 download site.
Announcing Empires of Arcadia
Posted by Eden on Thursday, May 15th, 2008, 23:12:43 PM
Now in the works for two months, the newest version of RadiantRPG is coming along very well. Though it is not ready for alpha testing, I am pleased to announce the details of my newest production: Empires of Arcadia.

I had long decided during the course of HeroRPG v3's development that the game's design was flawed. It wasn't until the last week, when I tried to implement PvP, that I realized it was flawed beyond all hope of repair. For this reason, I've decided to take a step backwards and work on what has proven to be successful - Legend of Arcadia. The newest iteration of RadiantRPG will be built on Legend of Arcadia's foundation, reinforcing and improving the aspects found therein. I have decided to code a simpler game than HeroRPG v3, yet expand upon what I have learned during the course of coding this game.

Thus far, the results have been very satisfying. Using knowledge I have gained from the previous 4 games I have coded, I have begun to produce what I believe will be a masterpiece, as far as web-based RPGs are concerned, in regards to both development and style. Please feel free to visit Empires of Arcadia's website, located at [http://eoa.herorpg.net] and read the introduction as well as the 'About' page. In addition, I have created a screenshot of some early work being done on the inventory/status page, which can be found [here].

Please feel free to contribute with any ideas for the game you may have as well as any comments. Your feedback is much appreciated.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

To the very few players that it may concern:

After much (ok, not much, just a day) of contemplation, I have decided to put Hero on a hiatus. This doesn't mean it will never be finished, just not in the near future. There clearly has not been enough interest in seeing it completed, so there shouldn't be much concern if I decide to take a break from developing it. While designing the faction/pvp system for Hero, I realized the scope of what I wanted to code was far too large to implement in Hero and have it remain a pure RPG. For this reason I have decide to code it as a new game. Yes, you heard right, *another* new game.

The new game will not be an RPG, at least not in the full sense of the word. It will contain many RPG elements, but it will be moving away from focusing on single characters. It will be a casual game that can be either strategic or non-strategic and can be played solo (much like Hero) or with other players. It will include player-versus-player interaction from the beginning and will borrow many features in the single-player aspect from Hero and Legend of Arcadia. The multiplayer aspect will be fully integrated with the single-player game (though you never have to play alone if you don't want to) and will be based on diplomacy, commerce, and exploration. I won't go into the full details of the game until much later; I'll keep our (few) readers posted on the game's progress. As soon as the wiki for the game goes live, a link will be posted here.
Beta's Closed.

Yep. It's closed.

There wasn't enough feedback and suggestions to warrant keeping the beta open. For those that did do more than just play and complain that things weren't working: thanks for your cooperation. If you are still interested in testing, you may e-mail me at admin[at]herorpg[dot]net and tell me why you think you'd make a good tester.

For the rest of you, you may play when version 3.2 is complete. It could be a few weeks or a few months.
